The White Ship

The White Ship

A Poem by Ronda
"

I wrote this about my friend who fell off the boat crab fishing.

"

You brought me brilliant joy;
You brought me grievous tears.
You gave me so many memories
throughout all of the years.

You made things so radiant
in your sweet and boyish ways.
Things were never judgmental
and always open-minded in play.

You taught me integrity
and made my soul soar.
Whenever we were together,
only vitality washed upon my shore.

And now you have boarded
that pristine white ship.
I hope you know how much it meant
to be blessed with the gift of your friendship.

The hour has bitterly come
and now we must part,
But know that I love you.
You will always be in my heart.

Author's Note

Ronda
The man I wrote this about fell off the boat long before the Deadliest Catch and every time I see that show I think of him and wish he had been on the boat. I dated him before I met my child's father. Ironically, he took Clarke's place on the Time Bandit, which has been a bitter sweet thing for our family. He had the bluest eyes and the sweetest disposition and he LOVED the color white. RIP Clarke Sparks, age 32. I miss you...

really on the time bandit...great movie too you ever see it?
This was very touching and i have an affinity for the people with the courage to do the most dangerous job in the world.
I have nothing but respect for sailors and i myself almost became one...
I chose another route and sometimes i wish i would have went to the sea for the ocean would have been good to me.
Anyway I really feel that by writing it as you did you made it more personable, and you painted vivid pictures of a tough and great person. He was probably a hell of a guy to party with...lol
