Pool DayA Poem by Ashlyn OliviaLife is a chaotic pool day
Life is just the sun shining on a summer's day, allowing the pool to be open.
Change is the friend who throws you in when you weren't ready. Forcing you to accept that since you invited it, You allowed all of it's shenanigans to tag along. Discipline is laying out in the scolding heat. They swore they would have a tan this summer, And that tempting cold pool will not stop that. Fear is dipping their toes in the water. They want to ease into the pool, with no sudden shock of the cold. Ambition is the two young parents. They stand feet apart in the water, guiding their young child as she learns to swim. Joy is running full speed ahead. Leaping off the edge into a cannon ball. Creating waves that touch everybody Rebellion is the one sneaking in a bottle of wine Though, clearly, the sign says "No Alcohol" And "No Glass Bottles" Love is the couple in the hot tub. Teasing one another with petty splashes. But he shall not dare get her hair wet. Death is the friend who couldn't make the party. We all wish they could be here, but they had more pressing matters. Birth is pool toys scattered among the area. You don't know who brought them, none of them belong to you, But yo play with them until someone takes them home. Religion is the life guard. Putting your well being in it, And trusting you are safe Our journey is the water. We will swim through it, Are tempted by it, And sometimes almost drown. It shimmers, Is refreshing, and may leave you cold in the end. But as we float, flail, and tread, We are alive and enjoying it for that friend who couldn't make it.
