I Miss You TonightA Poem by Gypsy DreamerTo my cousin and one of my best friends. Can't remember you not there green eyes, light freckles and golden red hair. All the time, I'd stay with you sing and dance and act a fool. Swinging on vines in the woods picking apples feeling good. I loved our walks around the ridge to Jonie's store and back again. Sometimes we'd wonder into the fields pick wild strawberries and eat our fill. Stop off at Ricks and shoot some ball with the boys till your daddy called. We'd go running as fast as we could supper time emm it was good. Doing dishes and laughing over nothing fans in the windows hogs outside grunting. Bee's swarming in the bee hives Will collecting honey in that outfit so white. Shooting more ball at Johnny's this time then out at Jim's the ridge ball kind. Going to get Debbie down the hill to run around couldn't be still. Up to Granny and Papaws house she'd give us a biscuit which watered our mouth. Phoebe would take off with us fast to pick more strawberries and make them last. She'd put them in milk... sugar too. Dang it was good no shortage of food. When Sunday came I've never seen... a family more dedicated then the Leach's you see... We all loved each other so much we'd all get together the whole dang bunch. A reunion it was every week of the year till your sweet daddy left so dear. After that the family still came but an essence was missing it wasn't the same. Now my heart is broken again a part of me a dear sweet friend... I'll remember us dancing, our laughs late at night our purple mountains which stood so bright. I miss you Willene more than I can write more than I can say I miss you tonight. © 2012 Gypsy DreamerReviews
