LADY LOIS
By: Robin Michelle Zachery (Grabowski)

I saw today, a beautiful soul...
much older now, but not at all old.

She walked with a cane, yet I remember...
her tenacious style, and limbs so limber.

She walked like no other, rode a bicycle too...
cleaned and gardened, also taught school.

I would watch her often, way back then...
I visited her at times, a pleasant friend.

Always a smile, a gleam in her eyes...
it hasn't left her, as if life's a surprise.

I wanted to speak... to her today...
suddenly I was that girl... from yesterday...

the one who watched this lady from afar,
her strength, her talent, a wooden guitar.

After we moved, not being so close...
I still rode my bike, looking for Lois.

Still I would see her, in her garden or yard...
on her bike a smiling, with the Lord in her heart.
