Awareness

Awareness

A Poem by Gypsy Dreamer
"

'To be aware of one's self'

"

There is a part of me...
I can't let go.

This part of me...
I don't even know.

I'm aware of it's presence...
I'm aware, it's aware...

We both know...
each other is there.

Is it possible...
to actually be...

so aware of a spirit...
that is actually me?

Was it in me from birth...
or beyond the womb...

in a place where spirits
are no longer entombed?

As I sit here...
seeing through eyes...

I'm feeding something...
who's in a disquise.

In my mind...
I'm lifting my hand...

Yet I sit here...
sifting through sand.

This part of me...
that I can't let go...

Is a part of me...
who is my soul.

i really appreciate the depth in your poetry. we are physical, mental and spiritual beings. sometimes i believe it is our spiritual aspect that is most fundamental and what ultimately unites us all, sort of like a whole soul that we all share separately, individually, uniquely. we do not die, the body yes, well it transforms, however our spirit survives death, where it goes is a question we shall one day realize. great write again

Very interesting poem about recognizing one's self, or at least that is what I took it to be. It is thought-provoking to say the least.
