A Final Gesture

A Final Gesture

A Poem by Sean Banks
"

A poem submission for an English course. The inspiration for this came from a very unique place...Comic Books.

"

She’s trapped.

No hesitation.

Mountains of concrete and steel get

thrown up in a final gesture.

Sinew tears.

Back breaking.

A rib shatters.

She needs to get out.

Still have some strength left.

Won’t let her die.

I can feel the blood

Collecting at my feet

Soaking the ground.

My lungs are full

of broken glass.

Almost there

Few more

Seconds

And she’ll be

Safe.

Can’t give up.

Love you.

She’s free.

No danger.

All the weight

is lifted

My burden

evaporates

Pain settles in

over adrenaline.

I can’t stand anymore.

She catches me.

God

she's

so

…warm
