Glamorous Hell

Glamorous Hell

A Poem by guy drori

Fame
she hadn't sought--
and often thought
of swallowing
the inexpensive pills
she bought.

Acting is her love
and that she had pursued--
thinking not in restaurants
she'll never eat again
in peace.

Every act recorded--
expectations high.
At night when silence reigns
releases she a cry.

Everywhere she goes
a blinding flash or yell.
She claims she'd rather
no one be
than a somebody in hell.

As they say, "Fame has it's price" and "Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it". Doesn't sound very glamorous but sure would be fun to find out just once huh? Cool title. Nice job.

I expect many of the world's celebs feel this way, no privacy, their lives are there for all wanting to know every rotten detail. Valentine

Thank you Valentine, and yes I definitely agree with your comment
This is good stuff because as a kid you think that it would be so cool ,glamorous even, to be a rock star, a model or a famous actor but as you so nicely state, ,it would be a living hell. What a fun read.

I believe you have hit the nail on the head with this great priece. How it must feel to be in the public eye.
eyes, eyes, everywhere. Not able to be yourself in public always putting on a fron until that front door is shut, then and only then can they become who they truly are.

Makes you think a lot this one, very though provoking and also how scary it must be to be in the dreaded public eye with every move you make scrutinised under a microscope.

Excellent piece, weell written out.

Guy, It's human nature to wish one is famous, but once famous all the baggage that comes with fame is revealed and a lot of celebrities curse their fame. A very well conceived and written piece, my compliments! A very perceptive and thought-provoking write. take care...dan

Thank you for your review Dan. Appreciate it and glad you liked it :)
Take care...
My favorite is the last verse! I do believe there are famous people who love their art so much that in spite of the hell that comes with fame, they expressed the creative urges driving them. This poem provokes much thought...well done, Guy!

Thank you for your kind words ! :)
Fame is a double-edged sword - or rather the fame that happens after you find your bliss. You've captured that well, especially the inconsistency of "I want it, I love it, I hate it, I want it to go away..."

NIcely done!

~ The price one must pay for fame is a high one. You're privacy, integrity and your soul are not your own anymore. The perks/money/ego are the threads that keep the boat afloat. ~
