Dan't Make Me

Dan't Make Me

A Poem by Peter Pan

I'm sorry we fought.
I'm sorry we never took away the pain.
I'm sorry that we never really spoke.

But do i really have to give up.
Do i really have to take everything back.
All the choices, and all the wrong words.

Was it all my fault,
that we never actually connected.
That none of it worked.

Should i really be blamed
for everything that i said,
the good and the bad.

All the wrong movies,
With those horrable actors
and all the wierd people that gave us those looks,
when we didn't hold hands.

The trip to the zoo,
where we saw the monkey's,
and that big deer with the horns.

and most of all,
our date under the stars,
where we slipped on the grass.
and swam in the lake.

Oh do i really have to say sorry,
and be the one,
that hated everything about us?

I love your use of specific, detailed imagery in this poem. It's also very relatable. I feel like we've all been in a relationship that was great, but it just wasn't right. There was something missing, and though there were feelings and emotions involved, it had to end and people had to get hurt because the connection was all wrong. Maybe it's like getting into a relationship with a person who should have just been a friend. You did a good job of capturing these emotions.
