I was Surprised

I was Surprised

A Poem by Peter Pan

I was surprised,
When our backpacks hooked that day.
The quick sorrys and the walks aways.
I was surprised,
That you knew my name one day in the hall.
On the third floor by the steps.
I was surprised
When we talked on the bus,
About classical music and sunny days gone.
I was surprised,
When you called me at night,
Just so you could talk without having to fight.
I was surprised,
When you gave me a birthday card,
And it said you cared.
But you were surprised
that one day in class,
when I told you I loved you.
