Sirius

Sirius

A Poem by Giulia King

Red wine,
Sleeping pills.
Helps me get back into your arms.
"I miss you," I said with a deep broken voice.
"So miss me," she whispered.
"Miss me and then let me go,
don't waste all your precious imagination on me."

She wasn't looking for love when I stumbled into her,
She was looking for serenity.
 "You've obliterated my soul,
Your brightness entered my dark crevices,
the kind of brightness that was enough to fill a dark sky."
I said as I was staring at the glittering night sky.

The darkness surrounds me once again
as I leave my Sirius in the depths of my despair.
What we had together was a transient reality,
 One I'll never forget,
 A bond, I’ll always miss,
And you, I’ll always love, til' the end of my days and beyond.

...

Author's Note

Giulia King
Fun fact about Sirius: Sirius is well known as the Dog Star, because it’s the chief star in the constellation, Canis Major, the Big Dog. It’s the sky’s brightest star.
In ancient Egypt, the name Sirius signified its nature as scorching or sparkling.
In India, Sirius is sometimes known as Svana, the dog of Prince Yudhistira.
I can talk about stars forever, they're so magical to me.

Everything here is painted with a deep enchantment. I somehow started with your author's note, which reminded me of the glory of the stars. And then your poetry came to life in each color and shade of their light that fills our skies. There is an awakening pain that grows in your thoughts, yet a sacred bond that glows into the eternal places. Wondrous.

Thank you so much for reading :)
Smooth and romantic tone. I love the use of the dialogue in poetry like this, its adds another dimension. There are relationships and then there Arte those relationships that regardless of time and distance, will always stand out in our minds. Loved this.

I thoroughly enjoyed Sirius and it was masterfully written. I had to go back and read it a few times because there's so many lines I loved and many different ways to interpret them. A few that stuck out the most to me are
"Red wine,
Sleeping pills.
Helps me get back into your arms." due to the subject's quiet confidence and determination to make the ultimate sacrifice for who they deem to be worth it. With this sentiment the subject obviously holds his lover in high regard, but I love how it's is later juxtaposed by her own view of her worth ("Miss me and then let me go,
don't waste all your precious imagination on me). I really like the line "The darkness surrounds me once again as I leave my Sirius in the depths of my despair." because it made me think how actions we do out of love sometimes end of hurting those we love. It makes me think of how intense emotions like love and hate can drastically change our character/nature at times. Anyways, I loved it and can't wait to read more from you!

No problem, it was a pleasure to read! Sorry for all the typos, I was on mobile
Very nice. I haven't considered the stars, perhaps, as much I should've.

Thank you. Look up once in a while, the stars feels so magical.
I miss laying on a blanket looking at the stars... I don't trust that in my area of town and it isn't so fun when you are alone... It was a very interesting poem, thank you for sharing it along with the knowledge behind it...

Oh, how I miss that as well! Thank you for reading :)
Those sleepless nights when it's better to go out and stare at the stars...makes you feel rather insignificant.

P.S. There are more stars in the heavens than all the grains of sand on earth. Awesome.
