The Poet Of Loneliness

The Poet Of Loneliness

A Poem by Giulia King

She was an old soul,
desperately trying to find the meaning of her life.
She couldn’t decide which world she liked better.
The one her body was in,
or the one her mind liked to escape to once in a while.
Like a broken flower, she hides her thorns from the cold world.
Hoping immensely that there is an end to everything that is draining her spiritually.
She had a wandering pen and an endless imagination.
Writing gave her a sense of freedom and happiness.
She was the poet of loneliness.

It might not be your best but it is still good. The illustration that accompanies it also gives a profound impact on the reader.

Thank you so much, Ashan! :)
I think loneliness is something we can all identify with; but a social disconnect? That's something else entirely.

I love it.

I'm happy you love it, Xuru! Means a lot :)
I think it nails loneliness Gullia.
It's not so much about being shunned - being cold-shouldered by society, as not feeling that one belongs in that same society.
And then being dragged back to it day and daily whilst knowing that just over the rainbow is a world of endless possibilities and our 'real' corner of the Earth.
It will connect to so many here, I feel.
Well done.

Thank you for reading :)
Guilla,
You have a good outline, I think more depth in explaining thoughts and feelings would make this poem more powerful. I like the premise, anyone who writes seriously understands loneliness.

Gullia, you say this is not one of your best pieces, but there is tremendous potential in it.

I like the title to begin with and the sketch is tremendous. Just a suggestion, print off the sketch and the title and stick it on the fridge and see what develops.

The lady in black stands out as the 'poet of loneliness' but there's more to the story. I would like to know what it is.

Good luck.

You're welcome
Very beautiful gullia....
I could relate to it..
If I wrote this it would be more like ..
She would spent rest of her life in wonderland...than doing her normal routine chores...as there is no option she would spend nights and days scribbling about her dreams...lost in dream land...she is a poet of dreams ;)
I like the pic with the lady in black.. the black lipstick stands out :)
We all writers are dreamy souls... trying to find our true self in our writings..... pls. Keep writing I like reading your work....

Sure you haven't written this about me? :P lol it feels as if I'm reading about myself ;)

It's beautiful yet kind of sad too. I would say these are musings of a restless soul (not an old one) ;)

I loved reading this, Gullia! I can so connect with all of this!

Great work :)
