Her

Her

A Poem by Giulia King

There was an aura about her.
Two kindred spirits don’t just meet by accident.
She was beautiful from the start,
Her hair was long and soft, and bright eyes.
I knew she would take my breath away as soon as I saw her smile,
but I didn’t know just how breathless I would feel.
. . .
She was the first leaf to fall in autumn,
She was the warm feeling you get when something good happens in your life
and suddenly a smile emerge on your lips and you think; I'm home.
She's pure light.
A cup of hot tea with some sweet honey.
A shifting monochrome you can't take your eyes off of.
A breathtaking mystery.
She's worth every high and low,
The missing puzzle you so desperately try to find your whole life.
Only to realize she's right in front of you.
A work of art.
She's the shuffle to my board,
The sand to my castle.
Her soul is my soul.
Every time I'm around her, I can feel the hands of magic connecting us,
tying us together.
That's got to mean something.
I love that we are 7 billion souls in this world and my soul found you.
. . .
Sometimes, I wander off to places that remind me of you.
Rooftops, bookstores, or looking at the moon, talking about your smile.
Thinking how lucky the stars are for knowing all your deepest secrets.
I found myself in late night drives,
wandering without a destination.
It's an addiction.
Our destiny together was written in the stars.
I don't know anything special about this world.
I guess I'll never know anything as special as you.
In a world full of temporary things, you were my forever.
And for that, I wanted to say thank you.
Because I needed you.
I needed you in this life.
In another life, another world,
we would’ve had everything and nobody would’ve been able to punish us for it.

When love travels, it seeks the smallest hole it can find so it can expand its world, vast and great! It is much better to look through someone elses eyes, to borrow their glasses and observe the deep colors they see. This is magical

I agree :) Thank you so, so much!
Wow! This is just stunning, and you are gorgeous in this expression. I appreciate this writing deeply. Your lines are crafted with dreamy prose, ethereal and delicious. I love how he sees her.

You have penned some magnificent lines some of the finest I've read in some time...

'I love that we are 7 billion souls in this world and my soul found you'

'I found myself in late night drives,
wandering without a destination.
It's an addiction'

I adore the above lines, they really speak straight to my heart.

Memorable, masterful writing. R xo

Thank you so much, Ray! I'm so happy you like my poem. Your words mean a lot to me! :) xo
the shifting monochrome part to explain beauty was very nice and inventive. The way the body of the poem developed and grew like their connection and then for the last line to shift the reader so suddenly. It really made it complex. I'm going over all the things the last line could mean. nice!
