Don't Give Up

Don't Give Up

A Poem by Russell Drake
"

Just another rough song idea.

"

It hurt so much knowing he was the cause
Of all their sadness that cold winter night
He shouldn’t have gone, it just wasn’t right
Ruining the lives around him without pause

Don’t give up, but he has no choice
Has to listen to reason’s voice
His heart is screaming but ignored
He just can’t take it anymore

He tells her he’ll be fine whatever she tries
But the truth is that he’ll be wearing a mask
Inside he’s broken and wouldn’t have to ask
His heart is going to curl up and die

Don’t give up, but he has no choice
Has to listen to reason’s voice
His heart is screaming but ignored
He just can’t take it anymore

The end is unwritten but he sees it true
His grand finale and nothing he can do

Don’t give up, but he has no choice
Has to listen to reason’s voice
His heart is screaming but ignored
He just can't take it anymore

No, he can't.
Could this really be a song now we're not in the prog-rock 70s?
