Dusk -The Carved-Up Path

Dusk -The Carved-Up Path

A Poem by Guavaguy
"

"We all think of God when death comes to our doorstep, with its black cloak and its putrid breath, but rarely do we accept God's decision, we're all the same in that respect; we're selfish.

"
On a cool summer day in june,
I stroll through a cemetery path alone,
The sun is high in the sky,
The clouds are thick and heavy,
The trees are taller than the gods,

The birds are chirping today,
What scars have been inflicted mean little to them,

Oh to be a bluebird in spring...
To catch the rainbow
And ride the winds,
Free of pain,
Of memories.

Chains bind me to this earth,
Keep me from the eternal light in the holy land,
Where the temple stands radiant,
Like nine suns.

Oh but the sun is as one, and it is setting.

I should return to the headstone
For it is getting late,
And the shadow of the trees now reach the stars
Which glimmer in the night sky,
Heavenly light.

Beyond the headstone lies a carved-up path,
I must have walked every road in the graveyard,
Every road but this one,
Which I had at first scoffed at,
For I had thought that God would be more than this...

But God isn't,
I should have known better.

On a cool summer night in june,
I stroll through a cemetery path alone,
And that path is a carved-up path
Which leads farther than the others
And I don't know where it goes,
I cannot see the end in the dark,
Nor can I see it in the light,
It is simply too far to see.

Perhaps I will end up a bluebird,
Or maybe I will reach the stars,
Treading this lonely path,

Chained no more I walk quicker,
Maybe I'll find something far off in the distance,
Something I had not seen before,
Maybe I'll find God...

Polaris shines high and bright in the night sky,
But the other stars are dim,
One can just barely make out the surroundings,
As they walk down the carved-up path.
