Arka, the Fifth of the Gatesmen

Arka, the Fifth of the Gatesmen

A Chapter by Guavaguy

From the time our eyes locked,
We engaged in a battle of wills,
A battle of consciences,
I and he,
We are one in this stadium of souls.
He pounds his chest. I scream.
Anything to ease the pain.
I've learned we're not all that different.
We've both loved and lost,
We've both come so far,
Only to be disappointed.
What was the point of this stupid quest?
Surely I could have hidden,
Forgotten about Dagoth.
But it is too late now,
I must save my beloved from a fate worse than death.
In my mind's eye I watch souls grapple:
Each trying to push the other to the ground.
I suddenly hear a grunt,
And see Arka on the ground,
Bleeding.
I walk away,
There is nothing to be done,
On to Dagoth.
