The Lost Woods

The Lost Woods

A Chapter by Guavaguy

I hear a flute play ominous
As I journey through the Lost Woods
Where the wood imps and gnolls
Hunt the fools who stray from the beaten path.
Stick to the road unless you think yourself strong enough
To forego enchantments of old
And brave the horrors of the night.
I am not strong enough
Nor brave enough,
I am not so burly nor am I so bold.
I see a shadow waiting up ahead.
'Who are you that cometh through this place?'
I tell him the truth,
 I tell him everything.
There is pity in his eyes.
'I am sorry for you, traveler.
Know that you have my condolences...'
He fades into the darkness,
Leaving only light.
I am left in a grove and it is here that I see the sun,
Speaking to me in a language of light
And for the first time
I can speak back,
And say
'Father, it has been too long'
And the sun smiles back at me.
I am a Sun Child,
Chosen by light,
And here I am at peace.
I feel like now I could take on Dagoth,
Make him pay for what he has done to me.
But it has been four years,
And I am so tired,
Of questing,
Of hate,
I think it is time to forgive and forget.
Here is where I will make my abode.
