Poem #4

Poem #4

A Poem by Taylor Sherman

So many mistakes

So few reasons to live

I just need

To find a way to let go

When the darkness approached

I welcomed it warmly

Feeling each slice

Cutting deeper than the last

And enjoying

The numbness that

Followed.

Then there was

The one day that

You showed up

In my life

Hearing the screams

That tore from my chest

As the sadness

Rippled forth

You came to my side

Bandaging the scars

Holding me close

Promising me the world

Giving me hope

Until the day

You let me

Go.

Now here I am

Feeling the same as

Before but with more

Feelings

Tearing deeper

Than the knife I held

To my own wrists

Before you even came.
