Darkness

Darkness

A Poem by Taylor Sherman

One night
Without the moon
Black as
Coal

The urge
Becomes real
The knife
Sharpened steel

The cold blade
Sending shivers
Down into
My very core

As I gaze at
The moonless sky
Blade poised
Ready to slash

Nothing left
No regrets
Everyone having
Forgotten

The stars slowly
Disappear
As the blade
Draws across

Flesh
And the blood
Pools around
Where I sit

Looking up at
The sky
With the stars
Fading

My vision
Blurring
Time
Slowing

I realize
The permanent
Answer
Was the

Wrong
