My Dove

My Dove

A Poem by Taylor Sherman

Standing in the shadows,
watching her face
Seeing her smile
 Feeling like her biggest disgrace

I move around, faking a smile
Until one day I hear my heart break

Laying in the shadows
Seeing her smile
Feeling the disgrace
For awhile

I move around, faking a smile
Until one day I hear my heart break

Curling up, I slowly cry
feeling ready to die
She crushed my heart
leaving me barely alive

I move around, faking a smile
Until one day I hear my heart break

Living a lie
no longer love
I slow die
Without my Dove

"My Dove has flown away
Leaving me here hurting
Asylum is the way
to end this pain

Off I go, faking this smile

Others don't notice
My lack of focus
As my heart chills
Leaving me staring at pills

Off I go faking this smile

Try as I might
Nothing ends up right
My hearts cold
The pills grow bold

Off I go faking this smile

The pills fail
in stopping this cold heart
On it beats
With a new heat

Off I go, with no smile

One last try
The only chance
To be the man
Who believed I can

Pride takes its place

On I go, seeking far
Wondering when
I'd be a star
With this pen

Prides in its place

I write my hurt
I wrote my pain
Love surrounds
The words of shame

Pride is in its place

Now I go
Seeking a dove
One who won't run
Hoping I won't lose a ton

Pride is in place

My Dove might be gone
But that just means,
A new one
Will take her place
