Leaving me

Leaving me

A Poem by Taylor Sherman

Our love was easy
Every day
Every second
Was pure joy

Ups and downs
The rare fights
We both loved
Every moment

Or so I thought
Until you left me
For someone else
Who was

"Less emotional"
"More stable"
After you had asked me
To open up

My closed heart
To you
You loved the fake
Me

Not the
Real thing
So I slowly peeled
The fake me

Away so that
Others wouldn't
Mistake the shell
For who I really am

I grew my hair out
My emotions surfaced
And my eyes
Spoke of sadness

But no one saw past
The smile I held
As I watched
The love around me

As my heart
Slowly cried
