AgedA Poem by JessieIn the mirror I look each day And see my edges start to fray My wilted petals and broken stem My age pooling, spilling over the brim
And everywhere I see them Their colors like a sparkeling gem Leaves outstretched as they soak up the sun Worries and grief, they seem to have none
My reflection shows that my colors have faded The thought of years lost making me pale and jaded It seems my once beautiful garden is now overrun by weeds And my dreams follow the trail that the ticking clock leads
And so the youth I watch, their vibrance my feed I'm addicted you see, it's my only true need I watch them and wait, a smile on my face It's sick how I laugh, when small wrinkles I trace. © 2008 JessieAuthor's Note
