She

She

A Poem by Paul Michelle

I remember how she cried for me
under the tightrope over Mallory Square and
how she died for me, in the basement
in pajamas with unwashed hair

I remember how she flew at me
Fists clenched eyes red
And how she laughed with me
in the morning in our bed

The first time I saw her.
The last time too
I remember her eyes
they were green and brown and blue

I remember her name
It was Tara and Kira
and Megan and Jess.
Carrie and Carla
Carla was the best

I remember how she moved,
how she laughed and how she smelled
I remember how she liked to be
touched and hit and held

I remember how she made me feel
after sex in the afternoon and
walking barefoot through the streets
in the rain beneath the moon

Lying naked on the beach,
wishing on a star
Waking up beside her
in the desert in our car

I remember how she smiled
how she touched my face
How she'd run her fingers through my hair
and call me  babe
And how she left me in the gutter when I needed to be saved.

About
Old. worn out jaded invaded & serrated. My compassion for others is so great I'm forced to pretend I hate everyone and don't care. But when they're not looking I sneak in and touch their face, creep.. more..
