That Summer NightA Poem by Xander Grimm
On that summer night
On the Fourth of July, The neighborhood came alive With fire in the sky. On that summer night , I played a song. And I tried to sing along Not able to say a word, Trying my best to not be so damn awkward. You had me speechless, And now I'm a f*****g mess, 'Cause you keep running through my head With words better left unsaid. On that summer night, you looked into my eyes, And you saw right through my disguise. Driving me insane, playing some silly game, Now I'm never going to be the same. I was so speechless, Now I'm such a f*****g mess, 'Cause you're running through my head, I'm starting to think I'm better of dead. On that summer night, on the Fourth of July. We stared into the starry sky. It was on that night, i fell for you, And now I just don't know what to do, If I only knew back then, Maybe I wouldn't be so broken. On that summer night, On the Fourth of July, The neighborhood came alive, With the fire in our eyes. On that summer night, You came into my life, And made me feel alive, So please don't ever say goodbye. © 2019 Xander Grimm |
