Lost Within

Lost Within

A Poem by Xander Grimm

Why could I not see,
That you really didn't need me.
That I was the one who needed you,
And your smile, that made the minutes seem so few.

Your voice rings in my ears,
A soothing sound that I long to hear.
The chance to hold you is now gone.
Where the f**k did I go wrong?

What makes one man deserve this?
I'm falling into this endless abyss.
With no hope of freeing myself,
I see your picture lying on the shelf.

I can't feel your soft kiss anymore,
Or feel the warmth that makes me want more.
I am so full of shame,
If only I could hear you say my name.

I truly loved you more than anything,
But I was nothing more than a summer fling.
Now I fear that the world is closing in,
With guilt so heavy, I'm lost within.

What comes next, I can't foretell.
All I can do is hope I haven't failed.
