Ode of Depression to A Broken ManA Poem by CookieMisfit1969
The eerie air of night
Hugged your tall and thin figure The withered trees hummed With your dragging footsteps. You wondered Deeper and deeper Hoping to find something Of what's left Of the great man you were. A lonely poet Thirsting for a purpose To continue living And surviving With the misfortunes Life gave him. Parched, like a dry desert You continue marching And searching In this goddamn forsaken thoughts. Alcohol has eaten Your words Cigarette has erased Lines you've made for your lover. Why must you Tire your feet. Your eyes are weary Close them Your memories are fading Forget them. Let go. But no, You open your eyes wide Bewildered by the site you see What storm has come And wrecked your glorious cities You turn your head around 'Where is she?' She? Stop daydreaming. She's not a saint She's the hurricane That came and left you broken Don't you remember Her fingers tangled On someone else's hair. Her lips on his. But I'm still here Take my hand. Let's sail away Succumb into me. I am the only way You can conquer this throbbing pain I am the cure to stop your tears I can stop your nightmares You know who I am but you can't resist me can you? © 2017 CookieMisfit1969Author's Note
