Envious

Envious

A Poem by ~Nina~
"

A poem expressing the feeling of envy.

"
There she was,
Golden and bright.
One true beauty,
A vision of light.

Flowing blonde hair,
Icy-blue eyes.
A tall, thin body,
A heart without lies.

A sweet, timid voice,
Pearly white teeth.
Flawless posture,
She holds a flower wreath.

Oh, how I envy her!
Beauty and all.
I shoot her a dirty look,
As she struts through the hall.

She smiles at me coolly,
I snarl at her cruelly.
She shrugs and skips off,
I can't take it, I've had enough!

Oh, how I'm jealous!
Of her charm and grace.
She is positively perfect,
I cannot win this race!

We will never be alike,
I am imperfect, flawed.
She is marvelous, gorgeous,
I am strange, odd.

Wait just a minute! That's it!

I understand now,
I was such a fool!
She is no better than I am,
I must put an end to this duel!

Oh, how I admire her!
Her kindness, personality and soul.
For she is as beautiful as I am,
We are one, a whole.

I imagined a woman looking at her self in the mirror by the end of the poem. The last two stanzas made me think she was looking at herself in the mirror and realizing that she was actually that person. I take it that maybe you meant that both women were equals though, and that is what the jealous woman realizes. Am I somewhere in the ball park with that analysis?

Thank you!
That was a beautiful poem! It hooked me when I began reading it. It was very rhythmic, and had a peaceful tone by the end. It made me happy even with outside being so gloomy.

I think Clockwork nailed it. I also had a vision of a mirror. The type of full length mirrors sometimes seen at the end of a hallway in old houses. Reading it I was reminded of the Burns quote - "Had we the grace to see ourselves as others see us".

Interesting!
It is funny how we see others and we see ourselves. We never think we are good enough but sometimes we realize we are. Very nice.
