Within Your Perfection

Within Your Perfection

A Poem by Brynn Peter Huxtable
"

I've always seen the Earth as being something perfect that we as humans have destroyed. This poem is an attempt to revive a connection with something pure and good, devoid of human influence but at the same time holding the best of human traits.

"

Mother.
She was Earth
in all her limitless
beauty and infinite
grace.
Her scarlet robes
lay over her
life-giving bosom
and her silken skin
was my relief.

She would hold me
in her arms
like her own
newborn son and say
“Boy, you are life,
you are song
and you are love.”
I wished to stay in her arms
Forever.

But not even the goddess
can hold you forever.
There are just memories
and soon only whispers
of those memories
that remain.

Sweet remembrance,
how oft you bring me
back to those places
where my heart soared
in the azure skies above.

I still see her face
in my dreams
and in my thoughts.
I still hear her saying
“Boy, be free
for you are life
and you are with me.”

After a few years....do you still feel this way - does she still speak to you?
