The Great Eye

The Great Eye

A Poem by Brynn Peter Huxtable
"

A poem about humanity's treatment of the environment and the power of the universe. I see celestial entities as being eternal and beyond natural comprehension in terms of their immense size, composition and immortal qualities.

"

I’ve seen the eye of the perpetual sky,
watched its pupil dart and flit
from side to side
scouring the land dry,
leaving it to crumble and die.

I’ve seen that same eye
rise and fall
like the great empires of old
although I’m told
“it’s a wonder to behold!”

In my dreams
I’ve watched it burn red
with fury and fire,
a giant funeral pyre
for the universe’s liars.

I recall meteorite tears
falling for years
and years and years,
eliminating natural creation
and human folly, our sedation.

I remember rings of flame
used in some cosmic game
to destroy the weak and lame,
streaking across the perpetual sky
and scorching the world from on high.

I’ve floated in the emptiness of space,
separated from the human race,
and been left to wallow in eternal disgrace...

Humanity’s demise lies in the sky’s eye.
It sees and it knows and it waits up on high…

Nifty XD I really like this, it's kind of funny, I thought the rhyming with the word "eye" would get annoying or at least boring or something but it really didn't, it flowed very nicely and somehow it worked. I love the last two lines, by the way, it was like a tongue twister XD Great job here, I love this. ^^

This describes all that you said in your quote thing above very well.
Good rhyme and flow of the stanzas.
Nice job!
