Golden Merchant

Golden Merchant

A Poem by Battlecry

As centuries do unfold
A legendary story of old
Now sit right there
I'll tell you the tale
Of the merchant who turned to gold

One cold night
While the full moon shone
No other light to be seen
Deep in the shadows
A darkness lurked
Something he couldn't foresee

As the merchant dwelled in his cottage
Slumbering in a deep sensation
Dreaming of the day that he'd get rich
What a misfortunate temptation

Well that sure sparked
An evil mark
Summoning the nearby creature
Fogged up the room
With a pitch black doom
The man awoke to the dark creature

"Sell your soul and I'll give you gold"
What an odd thing to say
In his drowsy state he dreamed what could await
"Of course" said the fool "I will."

Well days did pass
Weeks turned to months
The months they turned to years
No one seen the man ever since then
For he sit forever misfeatured

Glazed in gold
Was he corrupted soul
Eternally does he stay
The years go by
But he doesn't die
His foolish deed was laid
