The Self-Abusive Lullaby

The Self-Abusive Lullaby

A Poem by Battlecry
"

It goes to the lullaby tune Mocking bird.

"
hush, child now put down that knife~
Put down the razor blade, Now take my advice~
All the cruel, thick words~
All the angst, depressing days~
When you're stabbed in the back~
And you're bleeding all the way~
Through the pain and the torment~
But I must confess~
It brings sorrow to myself to think of you as any less~
If you feel the need, come to me when you can~
And I'll stay right beside you through thick and thin~
I don't have a mocking bird, or a cart and bull~
But I've got all of my love for you to have and to hold~
And I'll give it all to you, whenever I can~
And if I'm not around, sing this tune, if you can~
Because, Every waking day, is a chore and a pain~
But you make a life worth living so I ask that you stay~
If you throw it all away, then I'll be sad~
Because I know that I have done the best that I can~
And if it's not enough, then I will just give more~
Because to live without you, dear, is not an option anymore...~

Very moving, it put me on edge and then the ending was reassuring. Nicely done.
