The Mask Of Light

The Mask Of Light

A Poem by Battlecry
"

A poem about how people hide behind a mask to hide the pain and sorrow.

"

Plastered on effortlessly, with a mask sewn against

My face that is sullied,  without much of a chance

A branded smile, burning up on my lips

Invisible tears, with darkness  incensed

This masquerade will ensue after the curtain falls

Running past time with high hopes that it will  be stalled

Trudging against onward, I now will descend

Down into darkness, I just can’t give in

I liked the imagery in this poem. "A branded smile burning upon my lips" was my favorite line. You should try writing free-verse, it seems like a style that would suit most of your poems.
