"Tears and Love"

"Tears and Love"

A Poem by Gregory Lara

The day I lost my heart

Was the day you left me stranded.

You left me alone in a cold world,

No love beside me, no hand to hold.

You vowed your love, but where are you now?

Off in some long distance,

Leaving tears imprinted in my soul.

It isn’t fair.

I live off the memories we had,

Though beautiful "they haunt me.

The promises we made, never parting.

I must leave them behind now.

They are worthless to me.

I’ll make new memories,

I’ll learn to smile once again.

I’ll learn to leave this kind of love behind.

Someone new will mend my heart,

The sun has found me,

The clouds have let me be.

And when my heart meets its other half,

I’ll give them all of me.

Hey, cheer up. Things will get better for you, believe me(not meaning to sound like a counselor here, so sorry if I sound like it lol). It may be hard now, but just pick something that makes you happy and enjoy it like there's nothing that is better. Words from someone who's been there, it works. If you ever want, or need, to talk, just message me. I'll help you through whatever it is troubling you, or I'll be the person you can rant to. Believe me when I say that I will be here, and I know there are more people who will be here as well. Just giving yourself hope, as you do in this poem, is a really good start. I hope things have gotten better for you. If not, just keep your chin up, the sun will prevail over the darkness. Keep up the good work with your writing. It's definitely nice to read. And, hey. Smile :)

"Though beautiful "they haunt me." - the quotation mark after beautiful, did you have a dash there?

I would like to see newer works please; to have a clue of how you've grown and progressed.

In a way, the heartbreak in this story reminds me of when Spring finally makes an appearance to melt away the icy world that Winter has left behind. I really enjoy how it ends with an optimistic view. So often we see those who are clouded by sadness find it difficult to see the light of a new beginning. Great job!

Many sad poems are posted on this website & at the end, I want to give the narrator a glimmer of hope. The reason yours is a breath of fresh air is becuz you've provided the hopeful thoughts before you ended this sad poem. Some poems are meant to be all bleak, but I think most readers need the relief of some hopeful vision upon which to leave this message. You've done a great job of that. I like the way your hopeful thoughts do not sound very strong or convincing, like it's a stretch to hold onto these hopes. But as we all know, we fake it until we make it. Your poem does that. Clinging to hope, getting stronger, then it ends on a note of strength. Nice trajectory.

Beautiful and sad. Reminds me of a sun-shower.

A kindred spirit. I have to love the way you write. We are cut from the same mold. I like your style, good imagery, well penned. I'm a Fan. Take a look at some of my prose. You may recognize a little something, or not. Thanks

Moving on seems like a joke. Though it's the only way forward.

This was great. I really liked it. Captured that feeling of feeling abandoned by someone and so hoping that you'll be able to get revenge on them by moving on with someone even better.
