"Daisies"

"Daisies"

A Poem by Gregory Lara

I'll always protect you,
Shielding you from the rain.
keeping you warm at night.

If you cry, I'll bottle every tear.
And with those tears
I'll grow a garden of daisies, as far as the eye can see.
Turning everyone of those tears into something beautiful, like you

When you're trampled by the weight of the world,
I'll be there to help you up, to restore you,
And be there to lean on.

If you ever have a nightmare,
Think of me, kissing you forehead.
And when you wake, you'll find a daisy by your bed.

If you ever forget, look at a daisy
And remember me.
Remember I'll always protect, and love you;
Always and forever..

I was actually drawn to this verse bacause of the title as Daisies are my favorite flower. The reason...they grow wild or even in the best conditioned garden. The stems are strong and the petals delicate. I get very much the comparison of this flower to this love. Beautiful write...I can tell it came from your heart and that's the best place to write!

What a lovely poem, also I love daisies, so it made the poem more special.
I love this poem, it centers around unconditional love and protection. 🙏🏻
Something very rare in this lifetime.

"If you ever forget, look at a daisy
And remember me.
Remember I'll always protect, and love you;
Always and forever.."
I love the last stanza, so comforting and reassuring. 🤍🤍

Many times I'm not taken in by simple proclamations of love, but this is a message anyone would be honored to receive. I like the way you express all the ways to show your love to the other person, most of which are the very things we all long for, so often in life. The writing is clear & poignant, conveying much feeling without being cerebral. The daisy analogy thru-out is especially well-done becuz you resist the urge to liken this awesome love to a field of daisies -- but that's what we're thinking, that's what's brought to mind by your detailed description of how you would love the beloved.
