Tattered Prayer

Tattered Prayer

A Poem by Glorious Gregorius

Searching for a faint hope that wants not to be found
Perching on my shoulder, despair weighs me down, pound for pound
Pray to whatever gods there may be, prayers sent right back down to me
Pressing on and on, my heart never lets hope be gone

This journey for hope, rips me layer by layer
Only deaf ears can hear this tattered prayer

Finding just an ounce of hope, fuels the soul a thousand miles
Body growing quite tired, cruel despair upon me has been piled
Close my eyes for a brief rest, dream of that sweet caress
No, I know that dream is a pit, I will never climb out of it

This journey for hope, rips me layer by layer
Only deaf ears can hear this tattered prayer

Abandoned, forsaken, all warmth from me this has taken
Furious, saddened, writhing, my mind has been maddened
Empty, alone, one thing to escape this I know
Eyes closed, that sweet dream, never to leave, I now go
