The Spirit on my stairs

The Spirit on my stairs

A Poem by Greg Skura

There's a spirit on my stair
I always know it's there
I feel it when I pass it through
No place else but there

Sometimes when I pass it through
I get goose bumps on my hair
Late night on computer
On my neck, I feel it's chilling air

I ask it what it's doing here
What can I do to help
It never has said Boo to me
Not even a tiny yelp

I have a spirit in my back yard and one that hangs out in the hallway of my apartment ... the one outside sometimes scares me... so I can relate to the line====I get goose bumps on my hair=======the one inside sometimes rather rudely awakens me from dreams... but is pretty harmless. I like this little ditty.

Totally believe in spirits-good (angels) and evil. I have had some strange encounters with evil ones in the past, so I could relate to this! I believe some people are more sensitive to the spirit world, maybe you are one of them.

Mystery is wonderful! Whether it be a cool breeze at the nape of your neck, a feeling from a time and place. The remarkable part is that it does not scare, it makes your wonder. I really enjoyed this verse!

This reminds me very much of a poem I wrote a few years ago, entitled "My Ghost". Almost everyone who reviewed it thought it had something to do with an ACTUAL ghost, but the spectre in question was in fact the girl's immobilizing FEAR--not fear of a ghost, just FEAR, itself, as well as how to overcome it.

I think the feel of Happy Halloween so elegantly rings through this piece.
