Watching

Watching

A Poem by GreenSkeleton16
"

Portrait on the wall of a girl watching over her husband, even after death.

"

Eyes like a painting

caught in my mind,

sealed like a memory

perfectly aligned.

Into my soul

your eyes they can see.

Life never private,

life never free.

Eyes like a painting

I’ll cover your eyes.

Pull down the curtain,

I say my goodbyes.

Into my soul,

your eyes are still there.

Constantly haunting,

to my despair.

Eyes like a painting,

with water you smear.

Never will see me,

vision not clear.

Eyes are all wet,

why must you cry?

I said that I loved you,

that wasn’t a lie.

Into my soul,

your eyes they will creep.

Too deep to find them,

awake as I sleep.

Silently looking,

blink nevermore.

Always to watch me,

the promise you swore.

I like the message and the ideas here. Your print or font size could stand to be a little bigger. Some of us do not have 20/20 vision. lol
I think i saw a movie with this as the plot once.....

OK, you, this was thoroughly disturbing and has me looking over my shoulder. That painting totally needs to be stored in the attic! But as always, your poem is perfect in both meter and rhyme. I would be shocked if it wasn't! I miss you. Where ya been, green one?

Don't know why but this reminded me of The Picture Of Dorian Gray. Has a otherwordly feel to it. There seems to be a dark, menacing tone that sears throughout this poem. Is one hell of a gothic poem for sure! this one rocks!
