In the Blink of an Eye

As time went by, people lost the true meaning of love and confuse it with pleasure.

In the blink of an eye
the time goes by,
people get older
people they die

The mind gets wiser
Our hearts beat fast,
tears will fall down
as each day drifts past

In the blink of an eye
knowledge is seen,
we're left with the question
what does life mean?

Still can't explain
why people show fear,
why we have feelings
for those who are near

In the blink of an eye
love became lust,
sex became pleasure
which now is a must

But if I could go back
I'd go to a time,
where love was once cherished
and the heart was sublime

Breathtaking. Some how you were able to take the truth that others refuse to see and you elegantly put it in such a small poem. You have a gift for using small lines. It was lovely. I loved the rhyming scheme and the rhythm. I would only suggest putting in some more grammar. Other than that it needs no work. Very well done!

yeah i agree. For me when you have sex with someone it brings a connection that someone cant just walk away from without hurt feelings. You gave yourself to someone and they gave themselves in return. I couldn't even imagine someone being raped because the hurt u have when u give urself to someone and they screw u over is bad enough, but to not choose to give it in the first place?? ...that can destroy u
