The Red Rose

The Red Rose

A Poem by GreenSkeleton16
"

Love can be happy or sad, don't settle for the sad just because you found it first.

"
My heart is a rose
that peels when neglected,
but blooms when it feels like it has been accepted

The thorns that surround it,
are knives through my heart,
you can't bear to touch it
or it might break apart

When the rain falls down
I feel my soul being lifted,
as my mind seems to grow
when the pain has been shifted

Nothing is strong enough to pull out the pain,
so give me a love my heart will contain

a pleasent write...with some nicely used metaphors....i liked the 2nd and 3rd stanza in particular. they drew a nice cotrast between pain and what makes it fade away...
nicely penned!

Lovely use of metaphor, completely tied down, as is your wont. Yet another in a long line of brilliant thought and process.

Beautiful. Red being a signifier of love, and I love that line 'but blooms when it feels like it has been accepted' Lovely piece.
