Haven't Met You Yet

Written 6/13/15 How is it possible To miss.. even love Someone you haven't met?

I have a stitched up
Gash
On my chest,
it used to be
An opened door.

I gave away
My heart... freely
To anyone that would accept it.

But I've severed all ties now
..No access here..
It's been shut down for repairs.

The color of love
Has been drained,
The flame that once consumed
Has since died out.

It's scarred,
Charred,
Tattered
And Torn
It's even missing some pieces.

But tonight
I feel my heart burning,
..Yearning..
For someone I don't even know.

How is it possible
To miss.. even love
Someone you haven't met?

I don't know
But when I find him
He can have the scissors
I've held onto
To cut the sutures
To my closed off heart.

~The exception will probably find someone a bit wiser than she was before. Those sutures are necessary for closure to a past filled with damage. I think a lot of us can use them. This is intelligently written and kept me reading until the satisfying end.~

Look at that swirl of feelings. Love the idea of scissors cutting up the sutures. That's a strong image that reflects a yearning to abandon yourself completely to the most vulnerable state.

Haha I did. It's a very dark brown/almost black on top and reddish blonde on the ends - which will end up getting lighter during the summer. Cause I plan to be at the pool every day while I'm away lol.

Brilliant write..I love this. yes you can love someone you haven't met and yes even when you have been hurt to the point you think is unrepairable ...someone can come along an not only fix it but melt it away!!

because that person you never met, might just be the one to heal the scars.

you wrote me here...years ago i closed off my heart, stitched it up...and since then a few have come close to unraveling the stitches, but i have had a tightly knit protection in place for many years.

love the way you carry a metaphor throughout your piece.



some allude to metaphors in poems...but in pieces...you sew it all the way through the poem.

you also reminded me of a steven wright quote : "i almost had a psychic girlfriend, but she left me before we met."

I do agree you can Love (with a Cap L) someone unmet, someone unseen - even unheard... but it's never that you don't know them for somehow you find you've ALWAYS known them.

I do have to agree with you though, it's not that you don't know them, because if you didn't you wouldn't love them. You just haven't met them yet, it's the soul mates sort of thing I guess.

wow...where to start... the photo and format are wonderful... the use of color, bold and italicized font for emphasis is brilliant... and the sentiment is truly beautiful; he can have scissors to cut those sutures, opening the heart back up... it is possible; I know this for a fact... love is out there and these things happen... awesome piece

Sometimes pieces just need that extra bit of emphasis, I always like adding a little something more to my poems. I think presentation is a big deal.
