Biohazardous War

Written 6/1/15. Challenge with sereenaoutloud. Challenge was to write something inspired by the biohazard picture.

Taking a breath;
I breathed to deeply
And let you in.
~
Blind to your intentions
I let you get too close
And your virus infected me.
~
Trying to fight the contagion
But I feel you
Coursing through my veins.
~
This deadly disease
Is eating away at me
It's started a war in me.
~
And now I realize
It's to late for me
There is no cure
For this biohazardous war.

I don't remember
When I let her take me over; the other side of me
But I know it was long ago.

She has been consuming me
For so long,
Her darkness has now seeped into
Every crevice of my being.

The infection
Slowly devours my logic
Filling it's place with screams of deception
Causing my heart to feel the wrath
Of her false truths.

For this challenge in my case I was inspired to write two poems.
The song only goes with the first poem.

Two beautiful poems right here, again :) Lol. The two poems actually remind me of three things. One, how toxic some relationships can be. Two, this is how falling for someone feels like. Sometimes you don't even realize it until it's already there. And third, the relationship I had with someone before. Lol. Anyway.. Two great poems, both have lots of feelings behind them. Overall... I really like them :)

POEM 1 - This works so well on the physical and the metaphorical planes Ashley. Love is like the billions of bacteria in our systems - some beneficial and some not so. Breathe in too deeply and you can get fatally injured - breathe too shallow and yes, you may feel protected but you wont ever know the ecstasy of loving someone wholly.
POEM 2 - I like the old skool narrative style of this in as much as I could imagine it being the opening spoken word/ voice over on a vintage episode of Twilight Zone. Getting to a place of mind and heart that you can't remember travelling to as a result of a creeping kind of love. It gave me shivers Ashley.

So very true about the love thing. I kinda see it as you have two choices when it comes to love, play it safe or jump right into it - submerging yourself completely. And either choices could cause you to get hurt, but gotta take that chance right?

Haha I never thought of the second poem like that! But after I read your comment, I went back and read the poem again and you're right! I could totally see it being the opening voice over for an episode of Twilight Zone lol.
