Reflections

Written 2/1/15 This was inspired by recent realizations.

Sometimes I sit here
Lost; in reflection
Wondering why it was
So easy for you to care
Wondering why it took me so long
Just to see
Something that had always been so clear
Wondering how you could so easily see
Right through the mask I wear
Or how in the chaos that is myself
You find such beauty
You came into my life
When I least expected it; when I needed you the most
You taught me it was ok to trust again
That I could remove the facade and open up
Showing my true colors without scaring you away
You taught me that I don't have to always act strong
I can be vulnerable and cry to you; without it being a weakness
But the most important thing
You've taught me overall
Is unconditional love
That it knows no bounds nor flaws
And I thank God
For removing the haze over my eyes
So that I may see it everyday
I often question the ways
I could show my gratitude
For all you've done
I could thank you
A million times
But it will never suffice

Author's Note

Recently I've realized just how much certain people actually care about me. I've never known what unconditional love was until my two best friends came into my life. But it's taking me many years to finally see it. So this is to those who mean so much to me.

Just hits home for me. Like us all i have had some things happen that has meant depending on people in ways I never thought I would! I could never thank them enough! i think this words that perfectly!

I liked this one very much. To see your words giving fellow humans yet another chance caught me off guard. I thought God would get the credit. Having expectations of others is risky, unless of course the expectation is to be let down. No offense Humanfolk

Oh trust me, I tried as hard as I could to keep out the person I wrote this for, but she was just to good at breaking my walls down. And God does get credit, He is the reason she is even in my life (I met her years ago, randomly in a poetry chat room).
I used to expect that she would let me down because at that point most people had, but she has proven time and time again over the past 10 years that she isn't going anywhere. She is truly the greatest friend a person could ask for.
