Everlasting Love

Written 2/13/15. This is about me finding God's everlasting love.

I chased after your love for so long
Craving for you
To tell me what I knew
Wasn't true; that I was wanted.
~
As a result
Of your missing affections
I always feel completely alone
Even in a crowded room.
~
You have instilled
A fear in me
That I'll always remain
Unwanted, unloved, and alone.
~
I have long searched
Far and wide
For the love
That I so desperately needed.
~
I went after every love
Interest; I could find
Always with it leaving me more empty
And broken then before.
~
But I no longer need your love; to fill the void you created
I have found the love I crave in Him;
My Father; My King, My God
And it is everlasting and free.

Author's Note

Make of it what you will, but for me, this is about me feeling unwanted and unloved as a kid. Spending years going after my parents affections and never truly getting it. But that doesn't matter anymore because of Him.

It is good to have found love in God but a shame that you had to do so while looking for love from your parents...

I really like this piece. I can relate to it, as I went chasing after the affection of many a boy, trying to fill some void. I finally realized, that the void could be filled with His love. I don't chase anymore...
