I cheerfully refuse

I cheerfully refuse

A Poem by Green
"

"
I refuse to be sweet
To have my entire personality
Boiled down to
That chemical taste on your tongue
I am not a seasoning
To be lightly sprinkled in a conversation
The salt that complements
The meat in a dish
And brings out its flavor.

Powerful and effective in the intended message. I love the crystal clear tone.

The "I am not a seasoning" line is a perfect retort.
Why do we expect... nay, demand the "sugar and spice and all things nice" of femininity when we know exactly the next line doesn't really do the male any favours, despite being true! Snips, snails and puppy dogs tails is letting us off quite lightly when you think about it!
