that first line is very important. the persona here has thought over, ruminated on a past event and is starting to feel tired from overthinking. yet one cannot help overthink. especialy when a catastrophe has happened. one more thing... we keep saying over and over as we reflect on our scars, mistakes, and mistakes done to us. 'another thing that burned' is a vivid turn of phrase, one that twists the heart.
"Just another thing that burned", brought a sense of casual destruction to mind. As if just something else has been "burned", along life's way.
It need not be something tangibly burnt, which the writer had in mind. Indeed, even aspirations can be burnt out; when someone's dreams turn out to be - no more than a mirage. It can and does happen.
"Some other catastrophe", reminded me of a cataclysmic global event; such as an earthquake or hurricane - destroying homes and lives.
Overall, this seemed to be about the seemingly casual nature or normalisation of destruction in this world; both for lives and physical structures. This poem has a sense of despondency to it too.
Lol this write made me think of money lol I've been fools who because of so wealthy they would burn money because they had it. I cried because of the catastrophes.
I'm living in the good ol' south of the US of A. Professionally, I'm an engineer and I guess that means I'm supposed to know things. I don't always. I write because I can, and because I can write word.. more..
