A Conversation with the Mirror

A Conversation with the Mirror

A Poem by Green
"

Today

"
Good morning
You look terrible today
Smile
You look so much better when you smile
See, it's improved already
Your eyes still look sad
What is wrong with you today?
Smile with your eyes too
There you go
Now you look happy
Before you go, let's practice
"I'm fine"

"a smile is a frown turned upside down"
but, the mirror knows us...it is always with us, watches us grow up...and understands when we are really unhappy inside....no matter the outside appearance.
this would be a great sister poem to Sylvia Plath's "Mirror"---

Sincere piece of work. Enjoyed it. I am sure that most people can at least somehow relate to this.

That's how I spend few minutes on the Monday morning and it gradually reduces by the time Friday arrive. I don't know, what is it that keep me going and it doesn't really matter what is my condition... it's just the flow and with the heavy heart I say "I am fine"

Practice just doesn't make perfect. The mask always ...slips... somehow. And the eyes give ya away...
too real of a write.

I like this little poem the end of the morning routine before leaving the door great write! I particularly like the bouncing back between positive and negative thoughts

Yes, we wear our masks well, dont we. Sometimes so well, we forget what being unmasked looks like.
Nicely written, thank you for sharing.

I have to admit I burst out laughing at this poem. It's terribly sad but at the same time so awfully easy to relate to. You've captured the idea very skillfully and I really enjoyed reading your poem.
Sometimes though, if you're not fine I think it's a good idea to say so. Possibly no one will seem to care and some might even call you 'sad' for telling the truth but in reality it does get exhausting saying "i'm fine" when actually....
