Scars

People say scars are bad.
But I disagree.
My scars tell stories,
and contain memories
that I do not want to lose.
Sure,
some of them are sad stories,
like surgery scars
and cat scratches.
But others,
others are joyous
like scars from tripping,
as you run to hug your best friend.

O, I can relate to your poem's theme: I have a small, inch long scar on my forearm which I'm glad is there as it reminds me that as a young man I came terribly close to losing my mind, my life, and my soul-- but for, as they say, the grace of God.
