Nurtured Steps

Shuffle step at a two by two beat,
our feet marching in time
with the rhythm of brotherhood.

We've rubbed all the ways we could,
wrong and right, against the grain,
from side to side and around the way.

The warm abrasion of friendly friction
has given us many years of laughter,
love and fantastical fellowship.

I thank you for the honor
of sharing all these many years
walking arm in arm at your side.
