My Book

A Poem by Donna Marie Gray

My Book

If I were to write

A book about love,

It would have to be

    about you;

And yet, when I think

of those days long ago,

I realize how little

     I knew;

But the fact still remains,

that for me, the faint strains

of a girl’s first true love

     echo through;

And my book about love,

unfulfilled as it was,

would show ecstasy, pain...

     and you.

I cannot believe this has no other reviews...It is a very honest, emotion-filled write.

feelings from my first love...high school....still echo in what I write now...and I am 74

and still relying on past feelings to spark new poems.
The first true love stays with us, doesn't it? Our hearts never forget.
