Poem by Gray Witch
I write from
my heart, “Cause that’s
where the words live. God puts them
in there, For me to
parry, or poise, Sang-froid,
under pressure. My words act
as an anchor, To deal with
the world, When my spirit
retreats.
Sometimes they
confuse, Often I
meander. But when
examined they show, My true
nature, my conscience. Some days I
wish I could evince, Demonstrate,
not just tell. But that ability
deserted me, A long time
ago.
So I am left
with my words, I can only
pray they be inspired, By love and
devotion, And God in his
heavens.
Not vengeful
and mean, But with
understanding, Used to
connect and explain, What I feel,
want to share.
So it is
Sunday again. Does anyone
else see a significance? The words deep
inside, Have a need to
come out. The weather is
cold, the sky overcast, But I stop
what I’m doing, The prose beckons
to me, I must write
what I feel.
Predestined, foreordained? I’m not sure,
but would argue, Since I don’t
plan what comes out, It must come
from another. A spirit, my
God, or an ethereal melody, Regardless the
voice, it speaks through my soul, Gives meanings
to my thoughts, And a vehicle
with which to share.
