Sometimes it is no picnic

REMEMBERING

Darkness, shock, excitement and fear

Are all the emotions that I remember.

Lost, devoid of consequences,

Searching for the why, of a lifetime ago.

His hold so strong, everlasting

My young heart never had a chance to escape.

Bewitched, beguiled, seduced was I

Powerless to resist his desire and needs.

Cries on the inside are hidden

Appearing ambivalent in passion’s grasp

On the outside happy and cooing

Sheltering for the lost self, so very long ago.

Now is the time to deal with these issues,

Coming to terms with the child that once was.

The past carved in stone, closure not forthcoming

Makes me want to scream loudly and hide under the bed.
